- Spike went in for his annual checkup today. He got a clean
bill of health from his doctor. She said everything looked good
and that his weight was very good, actually on the light side,
for being an indoor-only cat. I guess I run the little guy
around enough.

- Spike has been squinting in his right eye for almost a week now.
Much to my surprise, Dr. Paws's Clinic was accepting new patients, so
I was able to bring Spike there. The doctor took a sample of the goop
from the corner of Spike's eye and checked it out. It had elevated
amounts of white cells and bacteria in it, so she gave him Terramycin
(an antibiotic ointment) to put in his eye four times a day. She also
did a tear test on his eye, but it came up normal. The ointment has to
be given until his eye looks better, and then done for an additional
three days.

- Spike has been getting his eye treatment every six hours since Wednesday
night. The discharge from his eye has ended, but now his eye is looking a
bit puffy and red.
- I keep giving Spike his eye treatment every six hours, but his eye is
looking more puffy and more red around his eyelids. Since the discharge has
stopped, I'm not giving him any ointment after today. If it's not cleared up
by Monday when his vet is back in the office, I'm going to call in.
- Spike's eye is looking much better today than it has been. There's no
discharge and he's not squinting, not even in the light. It looks like his
eye infection is over.
